A six-day trip to northern Sweden with focus on the Boden fortress and 20th century defences towards Finland.

Update 20/01 – change of dates 26/06-1/7 instead of 27/06-2/7 due to extremelly high airfare prices.
Update 02/02 – Gällivare is skipped due to extremelly high hotel prices. Hotel choosen for Boden.

Visits are;
Two full days exploring Boden fortress with numerous visits.
Visit to military museum and vehicles in Boden.
Vuollerim army battery.
Porjus Lancaster ”Easy Elsie”.
Siknäs battery, Morjärv 1WW infantry position and 2WW anti-aircraft tower.
Mini-sub ”Spiggen”.
Laver abandoned mining town.

Arrival on your own cost, latest 26th June 16:35 local time at Luleå airport.
Departure on your own cost, earliest 1st July 16:45 local time at Luleå airport.

Price: 10.600 SEK  (Reduced if shared room) (min price if all seats are taken, right now 8 of 12 seats are taken)
Included in price: Rental cars with max 4 per car (drivers needed). All hotels with breakfast. All visits and entrances. Guidence through Fortress Boden with focus on the planning from 1891 to 1910. What was built and not.
Not included: International travel to/from Luleå. Lunch and dinners.

Itiniary
26/06
Arrival to Luleå in the afternoon. Pick-up of rental cars and head to Boden. Start to explore sites, big and small in and around Boden.
Northern Light Hotel for 4 nights. Dinner in town.

27-28/06
Two full day exploring Boden and the fortress.

We’ll visit all five forts externally and Rödberget internally on an extended tour, as well as the training battery  Satelliten. Searchlight positions and observationposts. Both bigger batteries LeÃ¥ker and Norra Ã…berget as well as a few of the flanking batteries. Internal visit to Boden Radio bunker. Numerous 2WW machinegun posts and 1910era infantry positions.

29/06
We’re heading north for a day tour after breakfast. Visit to army battery Vuollerim for around 3h. Outside Porjus is the remains of Lancaster bomber ’Easy Elsie’, that we’ll walk out to.

30/06
Short trip west to remains of ghost-town Laver and railway transformer bedrock installation in Älvsbyn. Travel to Morjärv for the 1WW infantry bunker at Morjärv and 2WW anti-aircraft tower, followed by Kalix defence line museum.
Hotel in Kalix or Kamlunge. Dinner in the evening.

01/07
Main focus is the Siknäs battery with its twin 15,2 cm gun, ex navy. Also short visit to the mini-sub museum at Töre harbour. If there is time smaller objects within the Kalix defence line before heading to Kallax Luleå airport for the 16:45 departure.
