A trip to the borderarea between Croatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina.

Same objects as on the November trip; trip-report-croatia-17-20-november-2023/ but now in summertime and with a somewhat different set-up.

Visits are exploring the Zeljava airbase and mountain hangar and the nearby radar and radio station on top of the Pljesevica mountain (approx 1900m).

Start and finish at a resort/hotel around Grabovac.

Dates are not 100% set yet due to unknown spaces at hotels. It will be in the week between 23th June and 27th June.

You should travel on your own or in your own group to Grabovac, either from Zagreb, Rijeka or Zadar (those are the closest). You can be longer in the area.

Included in price: Transport (4×4) and guides to the Pljesevica mountain. Guide throughout the Zeljava hangar. 2 nights in single room at resort in Grabovac. 2 breakfasts.
Not included: International travel to/from Croatia. Rental car or transports within Croatia. Dinners at resort, snacks and packed lunch.
How to book: Seats are limited – send me a mail on lars(@)bunkertours.se. When I have said OK to join, book flights and prove that you have booked a flight or send a deposit. Final payment is made closer to the trip.

Day 1
Travel to Grabovac area. Get-together at dinner and/or drinks in the evening.

Day2
After breakfast we’ll set out with 4×4 cars up in the mountains. We may take ordinary cars a bit on the way to be able to continue to Zeljava by our own later. After a 45-60 min drive up the mountain we enter the former radar site from the Jugoslavian air force, that controlled and communicated with the air base that is visible down in the valley. We’ll explore the tunnels and the huge villa for a few hours before heading down again.
Afternoon and early evening inside the Zeljava airbase.
Dinner at hotel in the evening.

Day3
Return to Zeljava to explore the air force baracks and houses as well as the runways and a nearby hill that held communication equipment.
Split up during the day for your own exploration. Either head into Bosnia, back to your flight or perhaps a visit to Tito’s former summer house in the nearby mountains and national park.
